GALLE - The Dutch Fort

Distance: 70 km Duration: A Day Drive Time: hour and a half drive

Cobbled paving, narrow streets, old churches from Portuguese and Dutch influences blend in with shops, exotic cuisine, panoramic sea views and cafe culture. A UNESCO-protected and world heritage site, a must-see for anyone visiting southern Sri Lanka.

The trip to/from Galle and your time, sight seeing, shopping and a relaxing lunch will realistically take over ½ a day. Talk to our front office staff for assistance with the organisation of the trip to the fort.

Mulkirigala Temple

Distance: 23 km Duration: ½ day Drive Time: 40 min drive

An ancient 3rd century rock temple built on a 673ft high rocky outcrop, Mulkirigala is a cultural and historical gem, that has stayed out of the limelight until modern times. Ancient Buddhist paintings at the temple from the Kandyan era, rock and cave inscriptions awaiting to be discovered.

The trip to/from the temple takes approximately half a day. Our front office staff can help you in organising transportation and have your breakfast/lunch packed and ready to take with you.

In and Around Rekawa

Distance: 3.5 - 5.0 km Drive Time: 10 - 12 min drive

Found off the beaten path, Rekawa offers nature and tropical wildlife in a rural setting. Freshly-caught fish brought by fishermen at the harbour, local cafes and friendly local people to engage with.

To get around Rekawa you can speak to our front office staff to rent a scooter or get a bike available at the hotel.
